Why can I not tow my 2009 tacoma 2wd 5 speed manual transmission four wheels down.
Car: Toyota, Tacoma, 2009, 4cyl 5spd manual - Back to Fix-It - Toyota Repair Manuals
Q.Why can I not tow my 2009 tacoma 2wd 5 speed manual transmission four wheels down. I know the owner's manual says do not do it. Ford Ranger book says their truck with 2wd 5 speed manual can be towed. What's the difference?

Answer Are you sure it specifically says not to with the manual transmission? To my knowledge the standard does not need the wheels off the ground. The Tacoma has ADD differential so the axles will not spin the front drive shaft even if it was 4WD and the rear drive shaft will spin the output shaft and the gear oil in the transmission will lubricate everything.
