Q.I own a 2007 Civic sedan which constantly cups rear tires. Honda changed the rear control arms with an updated version but within 12000KM another set of rear tires were cupped. What is the answer to this Honda civic disaster?

Answer Which model Civic sedan do you have (ex. DX, LX, EX, Hybrid)? This is a pretty good example of what cupping is:
Cupping can be caused by an unbalanced tire condition, faulty wheel bearings, loose parts, fatigued springs or weak shock absorbers. Check the condition of the shock by forcefully bouncing the front end of the car several times and releasing it on the down stroke. Failure of the vehicle to settle after two strokes suggests worn shocks or struts.
Now do you haul anything in the rear of your car? Did your car have an alignment with the replacement of the control arm? I would recommend to have the wheels balanced & make sure the tire pressure is correct. I believe the dealer should take care of this issue for you under warranty, but they will be asking the same thing to determine if it will.

Addition Hi. It is an 07 EX. All the things you mentioned have been done and checked ok. An alignment was done after the rear conrol arms were changed. Many 06, 07 and some 08 civics have been doing this per my dealer. Honda Canada lengthened the rear upper conrol arm 1/4 inch and have replaced many sets. In my case they were replaced at 18000 KM and it cupped another set of rear tires in 12000 KMS. THEY NOW SAY THERE IS NO OTHER FIX AND ARE STICK HANDLING.

Answer Is the dealer willing to replace the tires again? If they have no fix for it, as well as here in the states, I would get a district representative or national representative involved to help with this issue. Honda knows there is a problem & it is their responsibility to get it fixed. I have a U. S. # to try (800) 999-1009 it is toll free here, or you can try to contact someone on line from the contact us icon. I found something for Canada also:
