My clutch pedal all the way down and there is no pressure against my foot.

Car: Honda, Civic DX, 1992     -    Back to Fix-It    -    Honda Civic DX Repair Manuals

Q.I have a 92 honda civic hatchback dx that is a manual. Now, I can push my clutch pedal all the way down and there is no pressure against my foot. What is causing this and how do I fix it? By the way, this all started with it losing "pressure" against my foot little by little the last couple months. It would get so bad that I would have to pump the clutch pedal to get "pressure" from it. It runs good (doesn''t move now) but because of this I can''t move my stick anywhere? How do I fix my clutch pedal to get action out of it or pressure? Thank you for any help.

Answer Sounds like you have air in the hydraulic clutch system. You can bleed the system and see if that buys you some time. I've included bleed procedures and a diagram for you. But if this doesn't fix the problem then I would recommend replacing the clutch master and slave cylinder. Also before you start the bleed process check for visual leaks along the clutch hydraulic system
Attach a bleeder hose to bleeder screw located on slave cylinder, Suspend hose in a can of brake fluid and ensure that hydraulic reservoir is full of fluid.
Loosen bleeder screw, then slowly pump clutch pedal until no more bubbles appear at bleeder hose.
Refill master cylinder with either Dot 3 or Dot 4 brake fluid.

Addition Exactly where should I look when I'm under the car? And also, If I have to replace clutch master and slave cylinder, how would I do that?

Answer Here's the instructions on replacing the master and slave cylinder. Just use the bleed procedure I already sent when your done installing the master and slave..
Clutch Master cylinder
Pry cotter pin out of clutch pedal pin, then remove pedal pin from top of clutch pedal
Remove master cylinder to firewall attaching nuts and bolts,
Remove clutch pipe and reserve hose from master cylinder, then plug pipe and hose to avoid excess spillage.
Reverse procedure to install, bleed hydraulic system
Clutch Slave cylinder
Raise and support vehicle.
Disconnect clutch hydraulic hose from slave cylinder, plug hose to avoid excess spillage.
Remove slave cylinder to clutch housing attaching bolts, then the slave cylinder.
Reverse procedure to install, bleed hydraulic system.

Addition How much would the parts costs?

Answer Master Cylinder Assembly 46920SR3A01 $119.70
Slave Cylinder Assembly 46930SR3013 $76.15
These are the list prices, You may able to find them cheaper at your local parts store or dealer

Addition I take it, you would use the same bleed procedure, huh?
