Car: Acura, Legend, 1992     -    Back to Fix-It    -    Acura Legend Repair Manuals

Q.Hello, I have a 92 Acura Legend and I'm having problems with it starting from time to time. Battery was replaced and the car cranks but wont turn over. It seems like its flooding because after sitting for awhile it will start.
Can anyone tell me what the possible problems can be and a guesstimate of cost might be, thanks!

Answer Could you explain your situation a little more?
is the check engine light on?

Addition No check engine light is on. When I crank my car all the lights come one including check engine, battery, oil, temp.

Answer ok their is a very common problem on the legend .
the main fuel relay will some times not let the car start until the temp in the car drops and the circuit board expands back to make contact and the car will then start.
does the car have problems when its been in the sun or heat all day, ans starts fine in the cooler weather ?

Addition it still left me stranded two different times at night.

Answer well since this is the only real problem i would recommend you start with a main fuel relay and retest.
i could provide you with a test but that would me you would only be able to test when the car is failed. Personally for me i would install a new relay and have the piece of mind knowing it has been replaced and knowing it is VERY common failure.
if your car was towed to my dealer for a no start i would check fuel first and then find it had no fuel i would install my good relay and drive into the shop and install a new one.

Answer but does it do it mostly in the day time?

Addition what would be a reasonable price for a installing a main fuel relay?

Answer the main relay at acura is about 60 i think but please don't quote my on that. The relay to install we get .5 to change. But this is something you cna change if your handy and have basic hand tools the relay is located behind the driver lower dash panel their is 2 screws on the bottom and 1 behind the cover where their is a blank switch cover pop it off and you will see the silver screw.

Answer acura should have this in stock.
