Automatic Transmission
Car: Subaru, Outback, 1999, 2.5 - Back to Fix-It - Subaru Repair Manuals
Q.Automatic transmission upshifts ok.
Once it shifts into drive at speeds around 35mph and higher and you attempt to accelerate, the engine revs then the transmission "clunks" or whacks abruptly when it downshifts into 3rd gear. Only did the "whacking" once, but the sequence can be repeated by pressing on the accelerator, the engine will start to rev but I back off before it clunks.
