no power to fuel pump, no spark
Car: Ford, Galaxy, 1998, 2.3 ZETEC - Back to Fix-It - Ford Repair Manuals
Q.1998 Ford Galaxy 2.3 zetec no power to fuel pump, no spark. Engine turning strong battery. Is there an inertia switch or immobiliser on this car?
I already checked/done: LOCAL GARAGE WORKING ON CAR, UNSUCCESSFULLY SO FAR.
More Info required Is there a red LED light flashing on the drivers door when you try to start the car?
Answer That is the immobiliser light, it is flashing because it does not recognise the code in the key, or there is a problem with the system.
The first thing to try is the spare key if you have one, this will rule out a problem with the key.
Next check the wiring to the transponder ring on the ignition lock by removing the plastic steering column covers and inspecting the wiring for damage, and making sure the plug has a good contact.
If the wiring all looks good, you will need to try to reprogram the system, to do this manually you need 2 working keys, which I assume you dont have, as the car wont start, otherwise it needs to be plugged into diagnostics and reprogrammed electronically, or diagnosed and repaired as necesary.
The reprogramming can be done at any good garage, locksmith or auto electrical specialists, however, repairs and diagnostics can only be carried out at a garage or auto electical specialists, but whoever does it, you will need to find out beforehand if they have the equipment to do the job.
