Key-in, Light-on, Seat Belt Reminder Control Circuit Input Test

Remove the gauge assembly.

2.Disconnect the connectors from the gauge assembly.

NOTE: All connectors are wire side of female terminals.

3.Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.

  • If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
  • If the terminals are OK, go to 4.

4.Wire the connectors still disconnected, make these input tests at the connectors.

  • If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
  • If all the input tests prove OK, go to 5.

There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. 8 (15A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • An open in the wire
A2YELIgnition switch ON (II)Check for voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. 3 (7.5A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open in the wire
A9BLKUnder all conditionsCheck for voltage to ground:
There should be continuity.
  • Poor ground (G401)
  • An open in the wire
A3RED/BLKCombination light switch ONCheck for voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. 9 (10A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Faulty taillight relay
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open in the wire


5.Reconnect the connectors, and make these input tests at the connector.

  • If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
  • If all input test prove OK, the gauge assembly must be faulty: replace it.

There should be 1 V or less.
  • Faulty driver's door switch
  • An open in the wire
Driver's door closedCheck for voltage to ground:
There should be 5 V or more.
C4BLU/REDDriver's seat belt is unbuckledCheck for voltage to ground:
There should be 1 V or less.
  • Faulty driver's seat belt switch
  • Poor ground (G501)
  • An open in the wire
Driver's seat belt buckledCheck for voltage to ground:
There should be 5 V or more.

NOTE: Seat belt reminder, key-in reminder system is KK and KU models only.
