Front Seat Belt Replacement

NOTE: Check the front seat belts for damage, and replace them if necessary.

Front Seat Belt


1.Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.

2.Slide the front seat forward fully.

3.Remove the lower anchor bolt (A).

4.For some models: Detach the hooks (A), and release the hooks (B), then remove the center pillar lower trim cover (C). Disconnect the lap out tensioner connector (D), and remove the lower anchor bolt (E).

6.Remove the upper anchor cover (A), and remove the upper anchor bolt (B).

7.Disconnect the seat belt tensioner connector (A). Remove the upper retractor mounting self-tapping ET screw (B), and the lower retractor bolt (C), then remove the front seat belt (D) and retractor (E).

Remove the center pillar upper trim.

9.Remove the shoulder anchor adjuster (A).

Check that the retractor locking mechanism functions.
  • Follow the Anchor Bolt Installation diagrams carefully when assembling the washers, collars, and bushings of the upper and lower anchor bolts.
  • Before installing the anchor bolts, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belt.
  • Make sure the seat belt tensioner connector and the lap outer tensioner connector (for some models) are plugged in properly.
  • Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
