Q.This is my first car. I own 2006 honda accord. ohm shows 15% With B maintenance code.
I guess now it's time for oil change.
My problem is I do not know if I should take it to the dealer or to LMC (there is one near my place). Also what should I expect from oil change?
How do I know if they are using right oil? What questions should I ask them?

Answer Good choice for your first car, you do not have to take your car to a dealer for an oil chage unless you want to and feel more secure, oil change places have come a long way and the wait may not be as long, as long as you are getting a top brand oil filter(napa, carquest, mighty, quaker state, etc: and good oil, most places give you the oil that your car takes, and will also check the air in the tires, lube the doors, hinges and any other points to lube, they will check to see if you need an air filter, check the wiper blades, they do a pretty good job, really, just ask them what type of oil filter do they use also what type of oil, most of all is you feel comfortable with their service, you dont want someone who looks like they fell into an oil vat, driving your car LOL, your first car is something you are proud of and you should expect excellent service

Addition What does maintenance code B mean? Will oil change place do all the maintenace required by code B?

More Info required INDICATOR SYMBOL B

* If the service message does not appear more than 12 months after the display is reset, change the engine oil every year.
# According to state and federal regulations, failure to perform these maintenance items will not void the emissions warranties.
NOTE:
Independent of the Maintenance Minder indicator in the information display, replace the brake fluid every 3 years.
Inspect idle speed every 160,000 miles (256,000 km).
Adjust valves during services A, B, 1, 2, or 3 only if they are noisy.
(S) = Service Warranty Requirement
(E) = Emission Warranty Requirement
(B) = Both Service and Emission Warranty Requirement
an independent shop might not perform all these service and emission warranty requirements unless you ask them to, just check them out for you, a dealer will but will charge you a lot more for a maintenance service esp. If the valves are noisy, so it is up to you want to spend a lot more, you could always call a dealer and ask them what it would cost for a B maintenance
plus there are shops out there and most will give you free brake inspection and look your car over free
